Freedom Place, Inc. has helped hundreds of people off the streets since 1991 on the condition they work and stay sober. Our innovative grassroots program funds itself with its door to door canvass that has reached out to donors across the greater metro area. By doing this we have raised monies to buy and rennovate rundown housing and given rehab work to our clients. Our empowerment model differs greatly from most charities that keep people dependent on handouts and doesn't empower people to help themselves. Sobriety doesn't happen without engagement and structure and that's the secret to are success for over twenty five years.
We provide low cost transitional housing and employment opportunities to single adults. All applicants must be able to verify they have been sober at least 30 days prior to applying. Each resident receives a furnished private room with shared kitchen, cable, wi-fi, and laundry on site. All residents are required to attend both a weekly house support group and at least one outside support group per week. A curfew, rotating house chore, and a limit on visitors is a part of the lease agreement to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the house. We have five houses in Frogtown, North-end and the Payne Phalen neighborhoods in Saint Paul. We have part-time jobs for office work, rehab work, and canvassing.
